GSA makes use of specialised operators to ensure the coordinated and synergistic installation and maintenance of fire safety and surveillance systems.
GSA is a national leader in fire prevention services. With over 25 years’ experience, it ensures compliance with the strictest safety regulations on fire prevention in both public and private facilities. Its undisputed leadership is complemented by state-of-the-art equipment and vehicles with international proprietary patents, and by highly specialised personnel with sound technical and practical training.
GSA applies its services in a variety of sectors, including motorway tunnels and networks, major industries, health facilities, maritime stations, the mass retail market, shopping centres and other infrastructures at a high risk of fire.
With their initial training and continuous professional education, GSA members of staff can intervene on fires outbreaks of various kinds, control their evolution, and actively collaborate in managing emergencies. The main services provided are:
- First intervention in the event of faults to restore functional conditions;
- Collaboration with institutional rescue bodies in emergency situations;
- Protection and evacuation of people in an emergency;
- Protection and conservation of assets, structures, offices and archives.
Prevention and control
Operating through its own highly specialised staff, GSA offers an agile and effective fire surveillance service, managing emergencies and intervening promptly in collaboration with healthcare personnel. The use of this service is also an essential and effective means of ensuring the response times required to adapt to current fire safety regulations those health facilities hot having a fire prevention certificate.
The GSA service typically involves patrolling activities, scheduled in collaboration with the HSE Officer (R.S.P.P. in Italy) on the basis of the company’s Security Plan.
Monitoring and control technologies
GSA carries out surveillance and control services, adopting the best technologies on the market and the most flexible methods so as to adapt fully to the customer’s needs.
Certifiable electronic reading systems for regular patrolling activities
In order to guarantee adequate and efficient control, GSA’s organisational model requires the immediate and constant reporting and certification of all inspection activities. The “check completed” status is registered electronically using a special device.
The transponder/TAG system consists of an RFID proximity reader supplied to the operating personnel and of TAGS characterised by a specific alphanumeric coding associated with each control point, as well as portable radio communication systems to ensure coordination of operators, and portable gas detectors for prevention in particular environments fitted with gas facilities, in the presence of explosive and flammable vapours or toxic gases. The device comes with a data logger that can store up to 100 hours of data. The instrument’s operating parameters are continuously monitored through highly sophisticated diagnostic systems. The detectors are ATEX, UL and CSA approved.
The patrolling mobility vehicles – Segway-type electric scooters – guarantee speed of intervention of the operative unit, while also facilitating movement inside the structures. Moreover, the operator’s upright position makes it possible to take action without needing to slow down. Frequent controls and inspections reduce the personnel’s level of fatigue, ensuring a higher psychophysical efficiency near the end of a shift and the best possible conditions of operation in the event of intervention. These elements make GSA a reliable partner in every scenario.

The Safety division serves over 200 major Italian healthcare facilities and is the undisputed leader in HEMS 118 (Helicopters Emergency Medical Service) bases and health hubs in general.
Among the health facilities served are the Gemelli University Hospital and the Umberto I Hospital in Rome, the Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital in Bergamo, the Burlo Garofolo Scientific Institute for Research, Hospitalization and Healthcare and the Cattinara Hospital in Trieste, the Meyer Paediatric Hospital and the Careggi Hospital in Florence, the Gaslini Hospital in Genoa and the hospital facilities of the local health authorities of Sardegna and Caserta.
GSA is the leading Italian operator in this sector, supplying all the main services required both during and following the works to ensure compliance under Ministerial Decree of 19/03/2015. This decree introduces the responsibility of managers and the possibility of obtaining a Certified Notice of Commencement of Works (SCIA), adopting compensatory measures and submitting an infrastructure adjustment plan.
With its 10-year experience and extensive specialisation, GSA is Italy’s undisputed leader in HEMS 118 bases (Helicopters Emergency Medical Service) and health hubs in general.
In particular, the company deals with managing helipads in accordance with Ministerial Decree 01/02/2006 and with ensuring their regulatory compliance. GSA specialises in drafting the technical and administrative documentation required for obtaining ENAC authorisations and carries out feasibility studies for the construction of helipads. GSA is also a certified fire training school qualifying students for fire safety at H1, H2 and H3 helipads.
GSA is an Italian leader in the safety of major road infrastructure and motorway tunnels, offering surveillance, fire protection and first intervention services in the event of an emergency, also in airports, ports and railway stations.
The company designs and supplies fire-fighting systems (through operated and non-operated equipment rental), designing and implementing fixed extinguishing systems, and making use of fully-equipped vehicles operating in conditions of maximum safety and in full compliance with the law.
Galleries and tunnels
GSA provides fire safety and first intervention services at the Mont Blanc Tunnel, the Gran Sasso Tunnel, the tunnel of the “Grand Lyon” Urban Community of Lyon (France) and the tunnels of the A6, A7, A10, A12, A23, A24, A25, A26 and A27 motorways.
GSA operators are highly specialised, and the technology used is fitted with special latest-generation fire-fighting systems covered internationally by proprietary industrial patents. GSA has designed and launched new systems for managing fires in complex environments.
Ports and shipyards
GSA’s operates in ports and shipyards with qualified personnel and state-of-the-art equipment, guaranteeing fire safety in accordance with art. 68 of the Navigation Act. GSA manages the supply and maintenance of fire protection systems, rigorously planning each activity and following specific standards, service quality control procedures and the provisions of operating manuals, specifications, standards, laws and regulations. Among the ports already availing of GSA’s services is the Port of Bari (where GSA has been entrusted with all port services).
GSA offers fire surveillance and emergency first intervention services specifically addressing airport facilities. In particular, it offers aeronautical consultancy services for the regulatory compliance of minor airports and follows every step of the process to obtain the Ministerial Fire Prevention Decree. Among the services offered are the design and implementation of fire-fighting systems and luminous night signs.
GSA’s offering also extends to railway stations. One of the systems most used for rapid and effective intervention is the Fire Totem, a dry-pipe water-based fire extinguishing system offering additional, alternative, appropriate and active fire protection of platforms and rail flooring. These specific areas are particularly at risk of fire due to the domino effect that may be triggered by a fire in one or more wagons of a train.
Oil & Gas
GSA is highly experienced in designing customised services for every type of infrastructure at a high risk of fire, using proprietary technologies covered internationally by highly innovative industrial patents of undisputed effectiveness. Drawing on this know-how, GSA has become the leading provider of Fire Risk Management services in Italy, and indeed in Europe, delivering specific fire services to major oil, mining and refining infrastructures.
